Royal Commission hands down it's report
The Royal Commission into Aged Care has handed down it's COVID -19 report with 4 key areas that need attention, and a recommendation that the Government report to Parliament no later than 1st December 2020 on the progress of their implementation.
Unsurprisingly, the 4 key areas are:
- Funding -to ensure there are adequate staff available to deal with increased work loads as a result of the pandemic
- Addressing the mental health of residents
- A National Aged Care Covid 19 plan and the establishment of a national advisory body, and lastly,
- All providers to appoint infection control officers and deploy infection control experts in their facilities
It will be interesting to see how Aged Care is addressed in tonight's Budget
